ALIAS PROGRAM DETAILS


ALIAS project is organized in four actions. The first action concerns the planning and provision of 5 PhD Grants addressed to Italian and foreign students. Those grants are managed by PhD Schools in Computer Science (University of Milano-Bicocca) and Computational Methods for Decision Making (University of Brescia). The second action pertains the organization of two summer schools. The third action regards the organization of two international workshops. The fourth action is the promotion of students and scholars mobility.


Action 1   PhD Scholarships

In order to encourage up-and-coming scholars to develop researches in Ageing Society and Active Ageing fields, five grants for PhD students are awarded by ALIAS project. The PhD Students will follow the rules of Italian PhD Program in Computer Science (University of Milano-Bicocca) and Computational Methods for Decision Making (University of Brescia) (duration 3 years).

- 1 PhD Grant funded and under the supervision of the University of Brescia (from 2012).

- 2 PhD Grant funded and under the supervision of the University of Milano–Bicocca (from 2013).

- 1 PhD Grant for a Saudi or extra-EU student, funded by CARIPLO Foundation (from 2013) and under the supervision of PhD Program in Computer Science (University of Milano-Bicocca) with the Umm Al-Qura University.

- 1 PhD Grant for a Japanese or extra-EU student, funded by CARIPLO Foundation (from 2013) and under the supervision of PhD Program in Computer Science (University of MilanO-Bicocca) with The Tokyo University.

Applicants should hold an above-average examination result and develop a thesis that is of relevance for the ALIAS Scientific Committee.

Action 2    Summer Schools

With a variety of subjects on offer, the ALIAS International Summer Schools give the opportunity to explore a range of topics concerning Ageing Society.

Each summer school takes two weeks and provides PhD and postgraduate courses developing in multidisciplinary programs. It takes advantages by the presence of international experts with different experiences presenting case studies and open issues.  Summer schools main goals are to increase the internationalization level of Italian PhD Programs in the field of Ageing Society and to consolidate the network of Universities and Research Centers.


Action 3    International Workshops

Alias International Workshops will be a forum for the presentation of researches in the field of Ageing society. The presentations include position paper, work in progress and new researches by scholars from University of Milano-Bicocca, University of Brescia and a number of invited guests from foreign Countries.

The Workshops subscribe to no particular methodology or political ideology, and welcomes participants from all departments and disciplines around the world.

 

Action 4    Mobility Program

Ph.D. students and scholars have the chance to spend a period of time like visiting Universities, Research Centres and Laboratories in foreign Countries.

The main purposes of mobility program are to improve the integration knowledge capabilities within an international and multicultural research framework and develop communication capabilities through multidisciplinary experiences.
